I think you should try and add a little bit of shape to it, not so much of a box

Beginning something new has its mistakes, more than a professional or someone who's familiar with the subject, which in this is case it's pixel art.

Not bad, but the perspective is off. The top of the bamboo is visible, and that's good that you added that there. However, the bottom is NOT visible to the naked eye (due to the top view), therefore your mistake is on the bottom. Remove that yellow part on the bamboo, make it round under there and I'll give it a "i like it" comment.
Youre missing the point, i understand what a beginner means, the point is when someone gives you feedback on what's wrong, you shouldn't just say "well im a beginner so it can be bad and i dont have to change anything" youre taking it completely out of context. If someone makes something and says theyre a beginner and it wont be great, thats fine, but its when you give someone feedback and they say that.

It's not about your critique it's about what you said of him being a beginner not a good enough excuse of not having perfection.
Everybody starts somewhere, nobodies first attempts are that amazing. For his first gun sure it might not look great, but that's because it's his/one of his first attempts. He has at least got decent sizing proportions for a player which is something not everyone gets right and he didn't do an edit. And might I add without the use of the gun competition template that had the sizing reference already set out which you had the luxury of when being a beginner
I even asked him if he wanted me to be blunt or not, he didnt answer so i went with the blunt route. And everyone is missing the point of what i said. i never said it has to be perfect but dont use being a beginner as an excuse to why you wont change things on your graphics. i see it all the time, i tell someone whats wrong, and how to change it and they reply "well its my first gun so im kind of a beginner". like ok? that doesnt change the fact that i told you how you can fix it. And after they say that they dont make any effort to fix whats wrong.
