I really want to try this out XD
this base requires skills of dodging, fight to the death, Gun vs Gun.
That sounds awesome and looks Unique !!
Good job Meph you are really awesome :D
is the building you see outside relevant in size to what you see inside???
So you copied Era PC? Pft. At least there's no healing aside from designated sources like beds and medkit pickups. I like the sort of strategy that would require. Players would, like, take shifts or whatever. Like, those in need of healing could rotate out briefly to heal when the action comes to a lull.
I'd loved the base and the new systems here.
Waiting for the release but it may take some more time fixing bugs etc.
Well, I suppose it looks that way to an iEra native.
I came from Era PC-- Played it from 2002 to 2010.
When iEra was conceived, it was literally a copy and paste version of the PC server.
And while both servers have strayed away from the original mission statement, iEra has definitely gone further off the deep end.
Particularly in basing.
I feel that just about every aspect of basing has been soiled here on iEra-- level layouts went from open dodging space to narrow spam-friendly hallways; fighting went from dodging bullets, timing shots, and taking deaths to spamming hallways with bullets+explosives, eating hotdogs, blindly rushing a chest to achieve "victory", and hiding behind a wall in a chest room.
It's so bad that the server has divided between "sparrers" and "basers".
My primary objective in this base is to bring basing back to where it came from, where focus is on skill-based gunplay, instead of a stupid chest.
So if, by "copied", you mean "bringing this server back to its roots", then yes.
Since Era PC is currently closer to those roots, I can see how you misconstrued that.
You must remember that both servers come from the same lineage.
To bring either one back to that lineage shouldn't be labeled as "copying"; but as resurrection.
One can hope.
Unfortunately, I doubt this server will forfeit the easy gameplay that the GhostM4/Bar/Vector/P2Ks have shown them.
Even so, they should be encouraged to try harder, since they cannot hide behind hotdogs, grenade spam, or narrow hallways. :)
This is SO sick! Can't wait for the release which could be anytime soon.. Awesome work :)!
I love the base as well. If we could make more bases like this in the future Era would be a much more fun experience.
I have tested the beta version multiple times, and I would like to test it again. Next time you test, please summon me! I'd like to see the changes you've made.
spawn at aimpoint? why cant we respawn infront of the base?
Wow! That looks really awesome!
Can't wait to try this base hehe :)
Because respawning at the front of the base doesn't give enough of a penalty for dying to take deaths seriously.
Let's paint this scenario.
First off, it takes a minimum of 12 seconds to go from base entrance to the flag area.
If I had front-door respawning, this would mean that, when somebody dies, they'd be back in the action within 15 seconds.
People who get their asses kicked deserve a penalty of at least 25 seconds before they get the reward of coming back to the fight at full health.
It's not fair for the people putting in work to stay alive, if they have to fight somebody who they just killed, 15 seconds later, at full health.
You multiply that by 3 or more people, and it's almost as if they're getting rewarded for dying.
This gives them the easy tactic of constantly rushing until they achieve victory.
15 seconds simply isn't enough of a penalty to constitute a real 'defeat', nor is it enough award for the victors to savor any sort of victory.
Instead, I've chosen to have people respawn in a remote location, adding about 10 seconds to the commute.
This makes it a total of 25 seconds between dying and fighting again.
For gangs that win a battle, this would give them time to breathe after defeating a gang, as well as time to capture the flag, savor victory, heal, and prepare for counter-attack. For gangs that lose the battle, they'll have time to reassess how they'll capture/recapture the base, what entrance they're going to use, and employ regrouping tactics if necessary.
It puts more of a focus on gang leadership; as this sort of organization doesn't just happen.
The problem is that people nowadays are soft.
This "auto respawn" thing that people are buying has caused them to think that they're entitled to a lesser punishment for sucking.
25 seconds to wait is nothing.
Years ago, upon dying, everybody went to the hospital at 10 health.
You then had to sit in a bed, wait 30 seconds heal up, then walk to the base.
This was plenty of time for you to sit and think about how you just got the **** beat out of you.
To go back to the base and have it happen again; talk about mind games.
Nobody complained back then; nobody questioned it.
It made dying more bitter, and winning more sweeter.
We all understood that this was conditioning. It was encouragement to get better.
We appreciated that, in the fights that we did win, we were the ones who had a lengthy break between enemies.
Bringing it back to that mentality is my goal.
This base really puts a huge focus on skill and defending the base.
I think I'll like it when it's released.
A control-the-point style kind of basing, that's really awesome and well thought!
A defensive themed base like this can really make minigun players stand out.
from the looks for the features it seems really skill based.
but after reviewing at all these new features,Is it safe to assume that Fort Killers Event will not include this base?
Will the base be a no hit timer or hit timer area?
Because setting either of them makes a huge difference in the basing system.
There will be a hit timer.
A base with no hit timer would reward spamming way too much.
That's not the type of behavior I want to reward.
I think that's a good thing. :)
That means the Fort Killer winner would be the gang with the most endurance, rather than the one who can spam the most.
Cant wait!
Challenging.
Pretty cool. Can't wait to test it out.
can't wait it
Hardest base ever
This perfect for me cuz I can withstand minutes of total-no-heal and cool
I've said this to meph before in-game, do something about the exterior level.
Wait wait wait, why isnt there a base on cop zone ( i forgot what its called but theres a police station on that zone and its next to gueree )
I'm not sure what you expect when you see a base exterior, but I see nothing wrong with this one.
Don't get me wrong- I'm totally open to suggestions, but you've gotta say more than "do something about it".
From my perspective, this exterior has everything a base exterior needs.
It does its job of getting you from outside to inside, and matches the proportions of the interior.
That's all it needs to do.
I invite you to give more detail as to what you're looking for; that's the point in beta testing.
I don't know if you're looking for fancy windows, overhangs, or any of those other new-school level fetishes.
I wouldn't be surprised if this exterior is lacking any of that-- after all, I based it off of a 2005 CTF base, where those petty things didn't matter.
I'm by no means a professional LAT; it's been 8 years since I had that title.
But I am a player-- One who really dislikes the current basing system on iEra, and thought I'd bring more focus on PKing by introducing this system.
I don't know about you, but I played in this base for four hours straight last night, and I had a blast.
It undoubtedly gave me a better basing experience than the other bases on the server that have the "up to date" level fetishes installed.
I felt that it would be too close to Pirate Zone, to be honest.
Plus I couldn't find a lot large enough to house the project I had in mind.
Alright, this is going to be very detailed, hope you take the time to read.
I can suggest to you some references.
1. Take a look at spar complex: Now, grab that picture and use apply it to your base(roof)
-The ladder on the left to one part(left) of the roof.
-Allow this left part of the roof to be slightly elevated than the right side of the roof which can be accessed via stairs.
-Let the right side be connected to the left side of the roof.
-As with the beta test, furnitures/obstacles that supports pking such as tables chairs can be added at the top of the roof.(adaptation from events house and staff bday house)
2. Take a look at Pk arena: Now, grab that picture and apply it to your base exterior(ground)
-Currently the exterior is basically flat with nothing.
-Proper walls and structures "protecting" the base, supports Pking.
-Add obstacles (adaptation to alpho's personal pk arena in his player house(his staff account))
--Note: not all obstacles have to be tables. Shrubs/bushes/fountains/bridges can all serves as PK supportive measures.
3. Take a look at extreme right side pirate zone where the fish stall lies/ the extreme right of mercy beach before the hospital/ the left side of staff BDAY house; those typical camp sniper spots(which you see in real life) Can also be added to the exterior AND interior of the base where needed, some small elevated "gun man spots".
With that, the PKing that is the main focus appears to happen not only in but outside the base as well. Hence addition of medkits outside the base may apply, however since it's connected to era's gmap, players can heal up with normal food BEFORE a entering the interior of the base.
And About the "fancy" windows and cosmetical appearances; it's not needed, it's a base.
Hope you take my ideas into consideration :D and I hope you do understand that I am not able to explain out this indepth to you in game while meeting you at the Neo Base. :)
Needed to add:
Hence my suggestion of addition features would suffice. That players DO NOT spawn directly at the door of the base upon death. Also, If you die in the exterior of the base, you will still respawn where you died at(since its in era's gmap).
Well i understand the new base (Neo Base). I totally like the new ideas about it....Id also like to share some ideas I have had in the past.
[LIST][*]*In The Circle If Your In The Circle And Your Gang Has Captured The base,And The Circle Is Green...If You Are Inside the Green Circle You Should Get Healed Like 10Hp Every 30Seconds Or Something Like That[*]*There Should Also Be More Blockage In The Flag Room[*]*The Elevator Should Be a PK Area....That If Its Not.
Thank you! i hope you guys have some time to look over this.
-Kriole
The elevator will be a PK area once the base is actually released.
It's currently still in Beta Mode so they had to gather ideas and disable a few things.
Ive Also Found Out That There is Kinda A Clogged In The Flag Room The Mini Room to The Left With Like 2 Med kits Someone Can Get Clogged There..
Also The Fence In The Flagroom is To Short...If it was supposed to be made for spamming the fence would need to be expanded in length so when you shoot it would reach the other side
I have no idea what the neo base looks like but i sounds cool I do like the green circle Idea though with the healing thing that would be nice
Yea I thought about it i thought so too
