The people who say that younger children can be mature don't usually realise some of the issues we have to deal with.
This includes (unfortunately) child predators.
Hackers who try to find our your personal information and attack you (I've had my internet cut off from someone DDOS'ing my internet connection specifically before)
People who will bribe you quite large amounts of money for favours with customs or items or anything else (recommendations ect.)
There's a lot more to the position that people realise and a lot more pressure.
Different time zones can have different expectations on how you're expected to perform, you have to meet minimum levels of activity or get stressed to improve.
Yes it's a volunteer position and you get paid in gralats and EC but it's a lot of work
The minimum age is technically 13, but it's absolutely not a position for children. Do you think kids who apply are really ready to face such situations? People thinks it's a popularity contest and that they're "graal famous" but it's a completely different world.
Age doesn't correlate with level of maturity.
That being said, we (EU) wouldn't hire anyone under 15, and I believe that applies to the other timezones as well.
Also, a heads-up:
Having "PM me if you need help" or something like that in your status, will not increase your chances of becoming a staff member.
Don't try too hard, it won't look good on you.
Write an application, and leave it at that - that's all you can and should do.
Well for North America that isn't the case. Those 15 years olds you talk about are the players that hang around start saying single and other crap. Maybe when you hire people don't give them access that same moment. give them a few more scenarios for them to practice.
I think that Vendhin gave a great answer, but I do have to say that there are some people from 13-16 whom are extremely mature too. Lots of people from that age range aren't, but there is also the minority that is mature and could easily staff as good as someone from 17-20.
For reference, I am 15.
Too many people actually do that, lol. Right on.
Young kids can not be mature?
