I'm not Muslim so I don't know the reason behind it but it's a huge known event, kind of like christmas, it brings families together to eat after sunset, I enjoy that event since my country has 50% of its population muslims, so new and very good offers on food, well done TV shows specially aired in Ramadan, themed restaurants and such, me and my family like to join their festivities since it brings joy and happiness while doing so, it proves that we don't need to have the same beliefs to enjoy the festivities for others, just as some of them celebrate christmas for the fun of it, we can do that as well. But for the people where muslims are a minority they will find it hard to get such offers and things.
