I agree, don't want rounds to be split up different days:/
I kinda like it split up. It makes it so we don't have to sit on graal ALL day. Just my oppinion.
However this could cause a problem if someone wins a first round and then one player can't be on the next weekend,
Can you change your lineup?
your facing a tough gang baw maybe some of us will only get passed 1 round, so I dont think it would really matter for some people. Though most people have been waiting months for this now we would have to wait a week for every match :/.
Just keep the GST all in one day.
well just keep it 1 day its more efficient and easier for everybody.
Uh where does it say that it's gonna be split into 3 weekends? Hope this isn't true because I know I can't be on the weekend after the one gst was supposed to be on...
Last year they originally decided to do it weekend by weekend so one weekend was the first round, but then the next weekend they did the entire rest of the gst and it went fine. It can be completed in one day and I know there's other people besides me who can't dedicate 3 or 4 weekends to this.
I agree with Duke on the map layout. There are too many obstacles which makes it basing without flag. This is complete opposite of what gang spar is
I don't think the event will be done across three weeks it didn't take long in a day last year, but it would be stressful to do it that way.
Atleast there are only 2 large main paths unlike the three narrow paths which allowed too much camping like in a base, but yea I'll agree.
I say disable shotguns. Spar should be a skill event not spam event
Magus lol... doubt they will be talking this year after gst
Dam it got real busy after one random comment about 3 weeks, I wouldn't get worked up over it until John says 3 weeks but last I spoke with him, his intentions were to have it all one day.
3 days is pretty good based on 11 members for each gang, lol 1 day would be a hot mess. It took 2 days for last year's gst. Imagine trying to fit into 1 day, with 11 members.
Really, there is no need of a complaint when we got John. If he says 1 day then do 1 day but if he says 3 days then stick to it. They are probably afraid that within the 3 days their leader is going to replace them with someone else for gst. Either that or they want to ec hog. Usually in that case, there's no point of joining gst if your gang is just trying to get ec. Some people take it way to serious for a interactive learning experience thumb development game.
But like i said, 11 members per gang, 16 gangs total, 1 day would not work, some people i doubt, can wait that long, unless they yell back at their parents. Some kid told me he threatened to kill if his parents did not let him ditch church and make him miss playing in gst. I lol'd. This is a whole nother level.
True, true.
The first 8 rounds will be on the same day, next week there will be the 4 rounds, and the week after would be the semifinals and finals.
Thinking about it.....3days would be needed, remember all the lag we have been experiencing? Well it will be more if we do get on just one day, hopefully with this 3days it will run smooth, but why don't we gst the first day then we gst the second the following instead of waiting a week?
Stupid idea john.
What about this: 8 rounds on Friday, 4 rounds on Saturday, and semifinals and finals on Sunday. What you think about this?
John I don't understand why it can't all be on one day, if you have everything working the time between matches won't even be close to as long as last year which means all the rounds could be completed even faster than last year.
It is hard enough committing for the GST, now we have to commit 3 weekends in arow? Have fun watching alot of good members not being able to particpate. This year will be the battle for who's most active, just like basing. Then again the map you made is just like basing, but without flags.
People's different time zones and just less staff hired so they won't "screw" it up. Mistakes from staff were made that included even killing a... actual competitor. *facepalm*
3 weekends is a lot...
You guys are forgetting a big factor, time.
If each round is 20 minutes (more or less), it is going to take ~3 hours for the first 8 rounds.
But if we had to put all the rounds together, it would take about 6 hours.
How about we do the first 8 this week, and the second 8 next week? (all in 2 days) I'm just doing that so Arabs and European players get a chance to play at a better time. (<1AM)
To be honest, I'm prepared. Five redbulls. No really, everyone will be able to participate, the GST would end at 2AM in my timezone (Germany, Europe). That's fine for me and I guess for others, too. Two weekends would reduce the number of players that are able to participate.
And for the people complaining about the new map, here's how the old map looked.

So stop complaining and check the difference.
And I'm extremely sorry for the gangs that are planning on camping this year, the map is kind-of open, hard to camp, huh?
So good luck on getting skills, you'll need it.
Why would each round take 20 minutes? They wouldn't even last 10 max, the only thing that wasted time last year was setting up each match. All you need to do is get 3-4 staff to help you run the GST the day it starts, just make sure they will be on and actually know what they are doing. This saves you the hassle of doing everything yourself which will make setting up each round take awhile.
If you start it Saturday then make it a bit earlier or whatever time so the "Arab" players can play longer. You can set it whatever time and the rest of us will do it, almost everyone would rather spend 1 day playing for the GST rather than 3.
Lastly last years map was much better, look at how much cover the new one has, it is just overkill when it comes to barricades and walls. You think more cover = less spam, but it is actually the opposite. More cover = more spam because people will just sit and spam knowing that they are protected by different walls.
There will be no setting up this year, the players are selected upon the GUI given to the owners of the gangs.
The only lost time would be at the beginning where we will remind the players with the rules, telling them to select the players if they haven't etc.
But this is an average of 20 minutes.
Other than that, what do you think is a good prize for the winners this year? Help me up with some ideas!
Also guys, this is actually a good idea. John excellent idea.
This is called a spar tournament, and like all tournament, to make it interesting, it would be better for 2 days, even better, 3 days.
Cause if you try to rush all into 1 day, its really not that interesting. This is an event that only happens 1 year. Every gang will get to rotate members. Depending if they are there or not for the tourney. So this is an opportunity for all members of a gang to participate.
Good thinking john, 3 days should make the GST a BIG event, The last week of GST should be the moment everyone is hoping for.
#Multi-days GST
John, all matches will be around 5 minutes. Last year, all matches were completed in about an hour and a half. This year won't be any different; it'll be much better to get over the tournament just in one day (Saturday). If the matches end up being much longer than how they seemed to be, then I'll understand why you want to split it up.
I also agree with Duke on the part where people can hide behind the obstacles instead of actually having to dodge. People can also hide behind the obstacles and shoot through the walls while they're hiding behind them. So I'd recommend you to make guns including snipers NOT be able to shoot through walls. Also, the obstacles shouldn't be long enough for players to hide behind them. I'd say, make the obstacles small (but thick enough for guns including snipers not to shoot through them) or just simply remove some of the obstacles.
So 20 x 8 is 160. That is only 2 hours. After all the first rounds you shouldn't need to state rules again because everyone heard it once and the member picking will be faster because the leaders already chose the first time. So each round of every match after the firsts would probally be 10-15 minutes. The next 4 rounds would be 40-60 minutes so this adds the total to around 3 hours. Then there is the semis which would take another 10-15 each. Now we are sitting at 3 hours and 20-30 mins. Lastly the finals would be around 20 minutes because of the announcements. So the GST could be all done in 4 hours or less. Last year even though it was split into multiple weekends the 2nd weekend was pretty much 4 hours.
4 hours is alot easier to commit to for one day then having to be on 3 different days.
Also for the prize what about a gun skin and hat? All i can think of would be gralats, hats, gun skins, gun, building, medal, etc.
Not everyone will be able to get on all three saturdays, it'd better for just one day
And especially since that arena is much more opened up, the matches should be even much more shorter than 5 minutes.
And not to be rude or anything, but I doubt the "Arabs" will get far in the GST.
Most people are going to miss round 2, 3 and 4 (which are the most important) because they moved their schedules around to make this Saturday available and the rest of them are unavailable... Please try and make it all on one day because realistically the first matches will not take long at all and gst matches never take 20 minutes and if they somehow did there would be VERY few.
