So far this dagger being drawn soon has been the prize 4 times now
Ok you don't know much. 5 sabers, 1 gas gun, and 1 flamethrower have been raffled off.
Just because it sucks, doesn't mean it's not rare.
Saber is more of an item that is respected because its hard to earn. Everyone's goal in events is to eventually get a saber. All of that has been destroyed because of this god damned raffle. And it will stay screwed up, unless the sabers and other 100 ec items that were given out, are taken back and replaced.
You're right, the saber sucks. It's been nerfed several times to make the deflect useless, so it became a trophy displaying countless hours of patience, practice, and devotion. Well, now it depreciated into just another melee, as it's value as a trophy is gone too. It hasn't been given out just once, it's been given out 5 times and counting. Try to view this situation from the perspective of an event player, and maybe you'll understand why several of us are here arguing that it's unfair. I've already stated my argument about why it's unfair, so if you can support you're premise that this raffle "isn't gonna make a difference" then please do so.
Another thing, before you continue to ***** about how we're being selfish: put yourself in our shoes. We've put ourselves in yours; we started out unable to win events too. But guess what? We got over it.
We've been told it was ok for them to nerf it multiple times because it's a trophy. We lived with that. But now it isn't a trophy- trophies are given to people who have accomplished something, they aren't given out to any and everyone.
They've accomplished something, lol. They accomplished a chance-based event in which hundreds of people likely entered. Your "skill" with events to their "luck" with a drawing. And it's not like there are a hundred people with it now. 5 have been raffled off. Woopty-f'ing-do. If you look at it in an intelligent matter, you've both accomplished the same thing. You both got a virtual item. What did you both do to get it? You tapped on a screen with your fingers. How much does that item really matter to either of your lives? It doesn't. Quit *****ing.
It's not a trophy. It's a sign of how much you actually care about a video game. How much time you wasted getting something that doesn't matter. It's also a sign of just how stupid you can really be. You're actually sitting here and complaining about someone else's joy? Because it's not fair to you? That's exactly what a 3 year old does when another kid has more than them. They go whine to mom and dad about stuff being unfair.
This is a game, not your life. If it were my choice, all non-cosmetic items would be bought with gralats, and rarity would be measured by how you look, what hat you have, what clothes you have, what VIP items you have. Or maybe even what non-weapon item you have. That way, everyone could have fun, with a BIT of effort. Not hundreds of hours of working for a stupid item that's completely worthless except for bragging rights (the light sabers). Certain items would grant you access to special areas, achievements would have an actual point system (similar to the Xbox achievement system).
Rarity Depth would be measured like it is in Classic with hats and over-priced items. None of which would affect actual gameplay.
Some rarer weapons would be accessible through certain, small, difficult tasks and not hundreds of hours of grinding something that you'd get bored with after the 10th time of doing. Let's face it, events get kinda repetitive. There are only a couple with any kind of actual depth and variety.
There would be events, but they'd have actual variation. Not just "grab this and hope you live" or "shoot a bunch to win" or "run as fast as you can".
I wrote this in ten minutes, so, sorry that I didn't actually get detailed on what events I'd make or how exactly I plan on carrying out what I said. Hey, I'm one guy who came up with all this in ten minutes. There have been hundreds of people who made Era what it currently is over the span of several years.
Ok dude. Time to gtfo. Skill and luck is completely different. It's a game yes, but people care about it. Life is not fair. That is absolutely true and will remain that way unless we go back to communism. But this is a game. A game people take pride in, and something people care about. Hell, look at MLG(major league gaming). Games are the one place where idealism can take place, but there has to be a sense of fairness. Giving one of the most respected items in the game, to a bunch of random
People, is the exact opposite of that.
Don't act like you know everything, when you don't. It was more fun when you saw someone with a saber, you knew they were one of the best at events. That was fun. Now, I see a kid with 200 hours who won a green saber, and his status is "I'm noob. 5/27 saving for AC cannon."Event items aren't event items anymore.
If you can't respect the people that have helped era grow and become a better game for many years, you should probably find a different game.
On a simpler note: we care. The people that know this game best, care.
So whoopity ****ing doo, to you too.
No we don't. We are taking a stand. The only people who accept change, are people who aren't willing to fight for what they think is right.
I found it necessary to "lash out," as I've been staying calm, but it's really bothering me how people agree to this raffling of sabers and other 100 ec items.
So, sorry in advance.
It isn't that we're mad about people having the same items as us- it's how they got it. We put dedication and effort into events, spend time on them each day. They took a base once, got lucky. The trophy aspect is now gone, and the usability of the item is long gone, back to when they nerfed it. Basically, now it's just a random melee that people have, regardless of accomplishments and dedication.
The 2 ways of getting ec items are unbalanced. Getting 125 ec for a double saber would take a lot of time and work, when you can simply win it in a stupid raffle. The raffle should be changed, it would be more fair if a player had to pay 5 ec to enter. All the player needs to do is join a basing gang, wait 1 minute, leave, and wait. Too many free ec items were given out. Don't make an excuse with the base taking stuff. It is free to enter. It is very unfair to people who were using their time to get event items by events. What is happening now is people calling event winners a lucky noobs who won their items in the raffle. This was the worst weekend ever in era. Nothing more to say here..
Yeah, it's not worth arguing anymore, since it's almost over. But this really has been one of the worst things I've ever seen on era- purely due to the fact of how unfair it all was.
Next time, I hope things aren't so unfair.
I agree with you guys. They never seem to give out free auction items, it's not fair to the event players.
So communism is fair? The complete lack of the people's input is fair? That makes sense. Let's not bring politics into this, though.
On a different note, as I said, it's a game. Not life. Was actually kinda hoping someone took the bait on that. Life isn't fair. Life is life. Graal is not life. You can make graal fair. You, however, can't make life fair. Why not make something that's capable of being fair, fair?
People take pride in MLGaming because they make money off of it. Not because they're proud that they can get a 50 kill-streak in CoD. That's more pathetic, than anything. "Hey, I can click keys and make twelve year olds yell at me." Yea, good luck getting into a real job with only that on your resume.
What they're doing is completely different from what you're doing, anyway. Events are basically mini-games. Correct me if I'm completely missing something, but, I don't see Super Mario Party live on Twitch.
I wasn't claiming to know everything, but thanks for throwing yourself under the bus with that one, too. Makes this a whole lot easier for me.
I never enjoyed looking at someone who's wasted countless hours of their life getting a virtual item. I wanted that item. Then I figured out how they got it. Then I figured out how pointless the item is, other than to look cool. That's when I decided: "All right, I'm gonna go play the game, and not waste my time, because I actually have **** to do."
I also wonder what you mean by "helped era grow and become a better game for many years". First off, many years means decades. And helping means actually giving input, and improving the server. Not 3-4 years of wasting your time doing events over and over, and telling random kids how much they suck at the game, as many people in similar company as you (the ones who you claim have actually helped the server, when really that was all snk, Jeni, and the rest of the staff), do.
I would also think it's hard to know the game best when you've spent half your time "mastering" the events, as you've claimed to have done. It doesn't take a genius to figure the game out, obviously. It's a game based off of a game that was based off of a Zelda game, with some extra content, current-generation players, and much, much more bull****ting around and not actually playing.
Oh, and I don't agree with giving free items. Nobody should get free items. But, it's stupid to make a big deal out of 20 people getting rare items.
Oh, and I'm not disagreeing that the raffle isn't a smart way to balance EC fairness. I don't think it should be happening at all. But, really, a 22 page thread about why it shouldn't happen? It should be a "This is A bad idea" and 30+ people agreeing.
I just dislike the logic of some people. Even If I completely agree with your resolution, if you have a ****ty reasoning, I'm gonna argue it.
Layerd gave me an mp7 by winning his events before it was auctioned.
Jeni gave me her brella for winning her event cause I was lucky it drop a rare before being auctioned.
LOL u guys say it's unfair ppl r winning 100 ec items with no effort but if u guys who r complaining won a saber in the raffle I don't think u would complain
The raffle is over ,wish will not happens again next months or forever...
If this happens again, only weapons 50 EC or less
Nope. It better not happen again.
And I don't think it's over...
If this happens again there should be requirements, just to show you are worthy of the weapon. Such as the amount of kills you have must be over 5000 or something like that
Yeah I agree with that.
All I have to say is lol that was fun. And congrats to the winners...
IT IS GONE... i thought it was good for it to be placed on era it gets basing all hyped up and it is fair for a player to get lucky enough to win a ec item because people hog the ec's and dont even give other people a chance.
and those people who complain about this being a bad idea already have saber or double saber. but admins should make more graal fun cause graal got ****ty.
I'm kinda glad it's gone. Now you can actually hold a base with a few people. This raffle thing should only happen once a week or so.
I will murder you irl
In the end, I think the raffle could have some good out of it. There are definetly good and bad sides to it though. I definetly DO NOT think sabers should be given away for free, thats just ridiculous. But for the lower priced EC items, they can actually help some people out. My dad's girlfriend's son won an AC and it saved him from having to spend $30 on a decent gun. I think if this only happens occasionally, with low priced EC items, it will be alright.
Once a week??? Hell no. Never again should this happen.
You take Graal way too seriously. Some newer players, and players that aren't good at events want some cool items too. Yes, sabers and other high priced items should definetly NOT be raffled. But other little items that don't cost as much could make people's Graal experience tons better. I'd probably be mad too if I was in your shoes, but I wouldn't be this pissed because it's making other people happy. You should actually consider looking at the other side of an argument before starting a war to please your own selfish ***.
Greg, AC's are super easy to get, and therefor not rare, so it's not a big deal if you give one or two of those out. But there are probably only 40 sabers( now 45), that's 1/9 of all saber, and that's alot. It was the most respected ec item, and that respect is diminishing.
Really though? It is just as big a deal to give them out because as you and other people have said, people earned them so it would be unfair to give them away. Here's how I see it, either all ec items can be given away or none but that's a decision the management team has to make.
Yea my red saber is worthless now. Might as well change profile pic (avatar whatever)
Maybe the way I tried to prove my point was wrong. But seriously you're all crying over nothing. If I had a saber I wouldn't care if a couple were raffled off. In the end it's just an item.
Lol everytime when I see stuff like this I always say to myself why cant era go back to the old times. But on this topic I really dont care lol
