I think we're too young to think about transcendence vs science
Very exciting challenge. Can't get past stage 2....
What is this???? I can't get it x.x

From nothing?
The first one is "from nothing", which was a Latin string.
The two strings that were posted was hexadecimal code for ASCII characters.

Let's solve this!
Ohhhhh
Googled the last line from the picture, "EX NILHO NIHIL FIT" comes out to "Nothing comes from nothing" according to wikipedia. There are multiple translations but they all generally have the same meanings.
So we have the picture:
Attachment 17486
And messages 1,2 and 3:
Quote:
Sometimes one cannot see the forest for the trees.
Sometimes one must look inside for enlightenment
Sometimes things are not as they appear.
I think that if there's any clue in the image, it may be somewhere where we can't see it. Any ideas?
Did more googling around, the "We look forward...." line led to this mystery called "Cicada 3301". Maybe we can follow similar steps? There's a whole wiki to what went down this yearly challenge.
Maybe the clue is EX NIHILO NIHIL FIT??

I don't know
Ah im at stage 2 now,Thanks for the tips reno;)
Opened the file in an online hexdump tool after following what went down with Cicada 3301 (http://uncovering-cicada.wikia.com/w...t_1_%282012%29)
At the end of the file there was hex code that led to the following url:
http://ns500874.ip-192-99-160.net/
Didn't click it yet because...spooky x.x Someone else be brave and tell us whats there
Fantastic progress everyone, we're getting somewhere. I have a feeling that the image is still valuable though.
I don't think they'd put all of the information inside the data, maybe we should try doing things to the image to reveal clues.
hmm..I found a phone number,do i call it?or is it a decoy.
You're looking too much in the small details, instead missing out on the big picture.Where the answer lies
http://uncovering-cicada.wikia.com/wiki/OutGuess
So there's this thing called stenography, which is basically hiding images in images or something like that. There was this effect filter for paint.net that helped decode pictures at this link (http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php...-july-12-2014/)
Using the B&W decoder effect in that link, it altered the image to this:
http://i.imgur.com/RG56BsM.png
Note the alteration in the top left and bottom left of the image. Morse? idk
I know what Steganography is, I found those gray pixels before but wasn't sure what they were. They're not morse because the spaces aren't consistent. I don't know what to make of it. If you use the auto-level function in paint.net you can reveal the gray pattern as well as a cross in the image. But I don't know the significance, it could just be a fault in the image or it could hold significance.
Yeah, the spacing was weird to me too. The position of the center of the cross is at 352,338. I think that matters somehow...In the 3301 case the dimensions of the original image was a specific number, so the position of the cross is probably one of our clues.
EX NIHILO NIHIL FIT keep touching my nerves
I believe 352,338 might be the GPS coordinates to a certain place in the world. Just a guess
Urgh I don't get this
