We had some issues with the server, which would disconnect the players or wouldn't let them log in.

Try deleting and reinstalling the app. If it's still lagging try lowering your settings and then check your device. Most of the time people who complain about lag have old devices. I haven't had lag since I've gotten my new phone roughly 4 months ago.
