Forting is a bit cooler honestly.
I enjoy it a lot now because tools like heal bombs and traps are utilized more often and that encourages base holders to come up with creative ways to take forters off the flag room.
When I'm at Box Factory, I cover the entire floor with traps, that way it's almost impossible to get to the flag without getting killed.
However, this has created a dilemma in which basically not many people fort anymore, it's pretty much just 3-5 gangs that really take time to fort.
The kills are pretty steady though, so I don't mind.
What's changed?

The new fort system is terrible, they added basing to forting, and they're both different ideas. For me the idea of fort is to get the most kills, not the most points. On average, skilled players would get around 100-300 pks, 300 if they're lucky. Now most people get 50-150 pks.
Also before, you couldn't use healing items, or else your kills won't count. That idea should stay in place so nobody camps in one spot.
Last year ppl used to get 1k kills from JUST FORT. Lately ppl only get like 1-500
