Revive the Forums

there are currently 3 users online.

Its pretty clear that the forums are dying. It's nothing like it was between 2013 and 2015 and its sad to see such a great community die off.
I have a few suggestions to revive the forums, and Id like to see yours as well.

- Staff AMAs - use the forums as a platform to do staff AMAs that are announced in game. It would be pretty cool to get to know the staff team better, and is a great way for the staff team to be involved with the community.

- More competitions - having more graphic, and other development competitions hosted in the forums would be pretty cool, as long as they are properly advertised in game via announcements or the news.

- Put some effort into actually advertising the forums - a large population of the playerbase wouldnt even have a clue that the forums exist, put some actual effort into advertising them in game

and finally, hire a new Webmaster - Bboy isnt coming back. Hire someone who can actually run the forums. I dont care who it is, i dont care if its tristan, please just hire someone who actually cares about the community and can be involved within the community. It would be lovely to see HW, and other high staff engage themselves within the forum community aswell.

The list is short at the moment but im sure itll be updated.

Neither Kieran and bboy are active.

We need lotzy and that dude who had dual saber and around 8k hours back they used to create a lot of arguments which made the forums more active

I'd love to see the forums more active. Staff AMA's sound pretty fun (besides the inevitable "make me adiam pl0z"), and could help more people see that staff members are actual people too. More competitions would be great, but it'd be up to the departments to judge them in addition to real life and other staff work. I don't think Homeless Witch likes to update the news for little things, so we probably couldn't announce competitions in the news, but if we do them enough, maybe we could push for a new menu icon with a list of active competitions with links to the rules and submission info and all that.

youre right, HW doesnt like updating the news for less important things, it would be nice to see more updates in it but whatever. i like the idea of a menu icon though

Ikr the forums rn are so sad but I can?t think of any ideas on my own since I have an IQ of around 80. :(

I honestly recommend speaking to Tricky about becoming the Head Moderator as she truly loves the community and I remember seeing her online at the oddest times of day- meaning she truly enjoys her role.


However, before speaking to Tricky about future enrollment, I recommend apologizing to her about being banned as she is very upset that someone would ban her after all she did for the Forums.

I've never met Tricky, nor do I know why she was banned or whatever, so I can't really say anything about that...but I do plan on trying to speak to Homeless Witch and other staff members on what we can do about getting the forums more active.

3 users only!!! Wow.......well there is corruption spreading all over graal and its making players quit so new ideas being implemented isn't going to solve anything unless we fix the corruption in graal overall

(Although I don't mind another Gfx contest as I am bored asf)

We can only depend on the staff team to do that work, in my opinion.
Viewing the staff team as of now, you can tell that those involved in the forums are not engaging in the forums anymore. Most of the staffs who are usually active in the forums are gone too.
- There is no Head Moderator.
- Webmaster is inactive.
- The higher staffs in the development team used to host competitions, games, events and other fun things. (e.g. Storm) They gone.
- Other staff members who connect with the people in the forums are gone as well.
- Newspaper staffs, where ya at? You guys are the heart of this forum, don't only stay inside the game. None of them posts competitions and news in the forums anymore. They're all in-game now. (Should allow them to host something like games/events in the forums with in-game prizes). Apparently, all of them are in-game staffs too so they tend to spend more time with administering in that area, than making good quality content.

Maybe most of the staffs are busy with school and exams. It's understandable and pretty sure right after all of that forum's going to be active again.

I have an idea. Someone should announce saying. "If we can get 1000 members on era-go.com online at the same time, we'll give you a Free EC!"
Very unlikely. Because ever since HomelessWitch has been manager there's been none.

Oh well...

We need like rewards so ppl will start joining. Would be nice if we had like how many hours we have been on Era go. I know this will increase people afking but cmon...the forums is dying. Example:

1) After joining you get a free item ( like a hug item or something that's cheap for trade tables.

2) After hitting 1k/2k/3k/4k posts you get a item

3) Hitting 10 hours you get a item, 50 hours, 100, 150,210,250 etc




Increasing competitions like:

1) Creative story comps

3) Best house comps

4) Best moments on era comps

5) A joke competition

6) The best character appearance on era comp

We considered getting rewards when reaching specific post counts in the past but Im not sure what happened with that. Also I don't think getting an item for joining will do much since the majority of members will leave after registering. I'll see what we can do about possible rewards though.

I was thinking like that free register item would grab their attention, with that it will make them see that there are many other rewards available so they'll try being active.

So we’re starting some discussion amongst staff members on how we can revive the forums. From this thread so far, I see y’all want things like increased staff activity, more competitions and forum events, and maybe like in game items for forum achievements and stuff. Any and all ideas are certainly welcome, so let’s hear them.

(Disclaimer: I’m not super sure how possible it would be to do the whole in game items things, we would need to ask to a developer when they have the time, as well as get approval for all this)

it would be great if you could bring part of that discussion in here to make it more open, but i understand if that cant be done

id be weary about having ingame item rewards for posts and for simply joining the forums as that could just lead to more spam and un used forum accounts

you could try some sort of poll system where each week, players vote for the top poster of that week and they receive some sort of reward, like a hat or an ec

you could even try having several catagories like funniest, etc

Not sure how in-depth I'm allowed to go, but some of what is being discussed is integrating the forums in-game somehow and maybe revamping it so it's easier to navigate, as well as just making it a more useful resource for players

What are the issues with Zone's in-game forums? I plan on checking them out pretty soon once my finals are up. I think we were playing with the idea of something similar, but not quite the same. Something to advertise a little more, maybe making it read-only in-game to give a taste of the forums, while still allowing for the larger in-depth posts that we sometimes get on here.

i havent checked out zones forums a few years, but last time i was on it was clunky and hard to navigate. its a lot easier using a browser or tapatalk

read only posts would be good, like maybe the top topics are shown in game and then a link to the forums, that would be a cool menu option

Yeah, kinda like a read-only trending/most popular type thing with a link to the real forums? That way people can see what we talk about here pretty easily, and have a way to give input. It could also be used for small updates, like the little changes to plasma corp balancing that aren't announced. If something small but significant is changed, a thread would be made here, people would comment on it or whatever, it would become a currently trending thread, people see it in-game and are informed on what's new, and then have a way to express feedback and concerns if they want to

Of course, I'm not sure how possible it is to script these things since I know all of zero GS2, so we would have to wait on some developer and webmaster(?) feedback. Also keep in mind that none of what I say is official or confirmed in any way, we're just tossing out ideas

I'm not sure if this is possible, but there's an event, called Ramadan, coming up in May 16th. Why not have a GFX competition for Ramadan like the one there was for Christmas?
