About how you said your colors/image gets all scrambled when you save it, are you saving it as a jpeg? Jpegs mess up pixel art, try doing "save as" and selecting .png or .gif

If you save it as a .gif, make sure the bg is #000000 or else the pixels will scramble. I save my work as .png preferably.
