What is "Clear and unused sprites"?

Whenever I try to upload sometimes it says "Clear and unused sprites" and I'm just wondering what it means.

I probably shouldn't tell you since it's a question in the gani application.
It removes sprites that aren't used in the gani, which reduces the file size, it's pretty self-explanatory.

I remember once I had to add the hand sprites again, after clearing the un-used sprites. You only really need to use the hands/arms sprites for swords and guns, anything else can be used with the other main sprites.
