By shading source do you mean light source? If so it was meant to be directly over top.

Hmm, good job.. Tricky is right, where is the light source? If you have free time, draw the outline of your hat, have a palette, and do 3 lighting source. Right, up, left. You can even do down! Thing is, one of those will look perfect. Not to mention, you'll have more experiencing in shading.

Yeah, I looked at it and noticed that. I'll try shading it again later or display it on some other graphic.

Needs shading. Where's the lighting source? The bottom glow doesn't look very well. The straps from the hat needs also shading, as a round shade. light in the middle, and dark in the sides.

I'm stupid. I've been using indexed mode in gimp for the past month (pretty much the time I started making graphics).
