I fight for equality. I fight for justice. I fight for the right thing.
I fight therefore I am.
I can help you 1 on 1 with shading shoot me a pm if you want.
Thanks man, the way I tried to shade it was an attempt to add depth to the top of skull, I liked how the colors faded from dark to light, I shaded the new nbk hat I designed the way its recommended with the 4 color shade etc. Tried to make this look different was all but apparently incorrect lol

Not sure if this helps but i did a quick little edit/progression. My advice to you is to ignore the simple art tips such as use less colors. There's no such thing as too much colors in my eyes, just make every one count and contribute to the piece.
ok i see what you did compared to what i did and thanks, thats a great reference for a skull, will fix it up tomorrow using that shading technique, thanks dude ^_^

how bout now?
You need more contrast. Hard to differentiate your colors. Also try to stick with light sources from the top, top left or top right.
Getting better but when you add lighter colors you need to imagine where they would hit the piece. It looks like your applying them randomly. Notice on mine i tried to accent the cheek bones, forehead, above the eye sockets and the bridge of the nose.
