Ok so if there is 5,000 people and if 250 people quit monthly, after 24 months none with insanity axes would remain.

Exept that this equasion has an exponential decay because 5% of 5000 is not the same as 5% of 4750 so you wolud have to find 5% of 4750 then find 5% of that number and so on and so forth

But if 250 players wuit each minth that owned the insanity axe instead of 5% then yes you would be right

Due to the poor wording of my problem, I think Myst is correct...? I did mean to make it an exponential decay problem though.

Reworded problem (is this a bit more accurate?):
If 5,000 active players owned Insanity Axes in December 2013 and 5% of the active, axe owning population quit every month, how many owners would be active after 24 months?

I doubt those players quit. It just that the old players don't really care about trading, because I they have played long enough to realize the objective of the game.

Still expinential. To make it non-exponential just say: If 5000 players owned the insanity axe and 250 of those players quit each month how many axes would still be being held in inventories of players or be used after 24 months. That would make it linear.

There are people who horde old items, like doubling up on a single item or more.
