It's definitely the most reliable, and still one of the fastest.

Level 0: ~500 Gralats an hour
Level 50 ~1000 Gralats an hour (and it takes about a year to get there from level 0)
Level 75 ~2000 Gralats an hour (and it takes about 2 years to get to this level)

It's a long long long time mining before it becomes competitive with what you can get the first day on other jobs.

And yes, as everyone knows, if you stick it out and get above level 75 it becomes the best paying job. But you would've
had a hell of a lot of money from those other jobs if you spent that same mining time doing them instead.
