Ah, they were staff block supposed to create electricity to your furniture, an old project I was making before I got fired. It works almost the same as Minecraft's' red stones.

They're still there, though, you can give it a shot. The black square is the generator, the + block are the wires, and connect it with the items you want! (you have to figure out yourself)
Lots of people made beautiful melodies with it, though, I still miss the old ones =[
