    Tricky's Guide to GFX

    NOTES:
Keep in mind I'm not a GFX Goddess or anything like that, but I can definitely help you out.
    WIP THREAD.
Click the images so they can appear bigger in size. I realized I couldn't use the links from imgur, because they're WAY too big.
Going to be going more in depth later, with how to choose colours, the use of blacks&whites, AA, line art, transparency, selection tools, etc.

    Topic 1 - Hats/Masks
Well first things first, you'll need a hat template.

We'll start with a mask first, since I just made a mask to add onto this thread. :0

    #1 - Outline
Create an outline for what you want to make. :0 I did a wolf type creature. A really good idea is to use reference images to help you out. :] In my case, I didn't use one. Oops.

    #2 - Choose Your Colours
So I chose some blueish-purple colours so they could blend in a kinda nice way. :0

    #3 - Soften Your Colours
This is what I do, though some people keep their black lines, I just find it looks nicer without it. Keep the same hue but change the brightness of the colour you use. So I went darker, because I want to show where the details are.
    tut3.png

    #4 - Shading
Yeah shading can be hard sometimes, but you've got to choose a light source to understand it. Think of where you want to shine a light on it and imagine where shadows would be. My source is from above.
    tut4.png

    #5 - Take A Step Back
A lot of times I use the 100% zoom out tool, and it shows me what it might look like in game, and I found out that the mask was too dark. Doesn't it look better?
    tut7.png

    #6 - Details
Wellp, you see I've added eyes now, and in the next post a little more shading.
    tut8.png

    #7 - Selection
I use MS Paint, personally I find it the easiest program to use. Find your selection tool and drag over your piece to copy it.
    tut9.png
Then paste them and rotate them, so they fit onto the noobie head. :0

Here's my hat as a reference for now. :0

I'll continue this thread later, I hope this helps for now.

You didn't have to quote the entire post...

Just search the internet for 'Graal hat template'
