I was thinking of buying it for basing, as well as for pks. Any opinions?

Its great in basing, espicially in forts too. Think of it as a mini gas launcher, thats good as gas launcher if used well.

I like the weapon but I think you're personally better off just using petrol. The knockback, the short distance, and the small explosion make it a pain in the butt to use. I prefer my gas gun because it's obviously better so I think you'd personally be better just saving up for that.
