    A forgotten step

The city of era rotted with disease and tonnes of decay. What was once a beautiful and rapid developing city was now a rotten mothball with no sign of it on the world map. Era's citizens entertain themselves with working, socializing, and even killing.
However, amongst the throngs of workers, astro weirdos , start socialists and the wretched Murderers and Criminals, sat a man on a bench in the middle of the infamous start park.
His name was Derek Chandler(Writer's Note: I watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S., alright?) . He was a lowlife by reputation. Always dressed in a simple T-shirt and shorts, he gave no hint of care for his surroundings. No one dared to approach him and no one bothered to care. Word around the park is that he is a Rich Miser who just loves wasting his time. In truth, he is quite the opposite.
Chandler was a man in his fourties who's facing bankruptcy. He was an architect. WAS. When era was developing, he loved the city and poured his life's savings into the Era Development Fund. Unfortunately, the development project was then cancelled and all his money went into the Mayor's Treasury. He lost his job, his home , even his beloved lokki-made Sedan.

Nowadays, he lives in the streets, seldom leaving the bench. Other than the usual lunch and the random job for money, of course.

However, one day, he was nowhere to be found. Rumor around start is that he was involved in an accident that ended his life.

He is very much alive, he just went for a walk. People can be so naive nowadays....

However, no one ever saw him again.

On his walk, he notices new,if not shabby, houses, new buildings, even a massive new building called the Multiplex. However, when he walks past the Regency Theater, he took one hard look at it and went in.

The theater went from what once to be a famous establishment to a shabby rodent hole. There was dust everywhere.

He loved the city,he loved the sights,he loved the buildings, he lived the life. He had so much faith in the developing city that he poured all of his money into it, but the city and everything went to ****. Literally, as there's dog poo everywhere and God knows what happened to the City Cleaners.

Chandler burst into tears as he left the theater. However, he saw something pasted on the exit door. It was a document declaring the demolition of Regency Theater, signed by the mayor. And the date of the demolition was..... Today.

It was at this moment, Chandler decided, he could stay at the sideline no more. He reached into his pocket, and pulled out the small penknife he kept for self-defense purposes. He stood at the entrance of the theater, remembering the memories he had at this place.

The demolition team arrived, with a big Crane. Attached to it was a demo-ball. Guards were all around it, to protect the city workers from the growing amount of criminals and killers.

Chandler took one deep breath, and charged. He caught them by surprise, but let's face it, a penknife is no match for an automatic rifle.

He was sprayed and mortally wounded.

But he wasn't dead.. Yet. He was still conscious. He faced the theater, witnessing the demolition of the theater. Every swing by the Crane hurting his heart more than all the bullets he received to his body.

    He died a merciless death.

A sign was still standing and readable just behind the theater. It read :

    REGENCY THEATER
    Chief Architect: Derek Chandler
    Architects: John Doe
    Dwayne Johnson
    Dwight D Eisenhower

Little did he know, however, his action were the birth of a spar, and there was more than enough fuel to start a fire.

A few weeks later, a journalist uncovered the truth behind era's unstable economy and it's decay. The Mayor has been stealing the citizen's money for his own wealth. The Billion-Dollar Development Fund was traced to his bank account.

A civil war erupted, and it will not end until one side was thoroughly eliminated. It would last for months with dozens dying everyday.

One day, however, a man named John Doe would kill the mayor, crippling the Corrupt Government, and restoring law and order .

A statue would be erected in name of John Doe.

But, the man who took the first step as a rebel would forever lie buried under the rubble of Regency Theater. His body would be missing, his soul gone. His name and story..... All lost to the wind.

~A story by a depressed person.
