Get an MSI laptop, I own one and it's just excellent for gaming. (If you're planning to play Era, just figure the controls out; takes a while but it's pretty legit). They're pretty pricey, but it's worth it.

Windows 10 is way better than 8.

It's funny because when I managed my computer shop I loved windows XP. It took me a long time to transition to windows 7. I absolutely hated windows 8 with that whole app looking desktop page. With Windows 10 they were smart enough to remove it and make the search function more accessible.

Yeah. In most cases it is best just to go in and get the best that is available. The graphics will be good enough to run games on the laptop for the next 4 years or so and with the desktop you could easily just buy the latest video card. (assuming they don't change the slots)

I recently bought an alienware desktop and laptop. I had only been using an old i3 laptop and I am relieved to not have anymore hardware lag.

Btw. To compare a PC to a laptop

A desktop can easily be upgraded with new video cards, memory, processor, disk space. You could always buy new parts as they come out.

With a laptop I think you can only add memory and diskspace.

When I was looking for a laptop I almost bought this one.
