For the people who are confused: This rating system is not just win-loss-ratio, it is technically the product of a player's total wins/losses and their win-loss-ratio. So, the rating system is more complex than that and uses the total number of a player's matches to the advantage of their rating.

In short, two players who have the same win-loss-ratio aren't necessarily going to have the same rating. The player who has more total matches will be statistically better and have a higher rating than the player who doesn't.

This is good for players who play more matches because they can still increase their rating over time even if they lose frequently. The rating system is also good good because players don't have to worry about maintaining a high win-loss-ratio to have a high rating necessarily.
