To keep track of messages. To have easier PMs fpr everyone. You're could anable or disable it.
It is a good idea, however it has advantages and disadvantages. Some people would like it and some people would not like it for various reason. It is easier to read messages but people can spam.
There could be an option to disable it
Also, if someone spams you then all of their PMs will go in their thread PM so that it's easier to read
