From my experience, yes you will still have them in your inventory. Just keep selling them otherwise the quest might end. I made the mistake last year, I had like 80-90 gold acorns collected and then didn't sell because the event was over and there was no place to sell, I thought the acorns were useless so I gave them to someone for free............ . .. Now I want to kms for being stupid.
