More ways to obtain EC?

In zone (i know not many play zone but I got the idea from here) What if you were able to trade EC instead of trochus shells for things?

That would make EC way way wayyy too easily accessible. They're supposed to be a challenge to earn and gather for special items.
Plus, they're called event coins.
