It seems that the European Union wants to pass a number of laws, most notably being Article 13, which will stiffen copyright laws. Making it so memes can't use photographs or audio from copyrighted material, say Pokémon or Grand Theft Auto, if they wish to be accessible in Europe, meaning that if a European likes to watch YouTube Poop on his spare time, he'll need to go to Africa or the Middle East to do so. This may not seem too concerning at the moment, as most of us don't live in Europe, and all of the big companies, like YouTube and Facebook, are in America, but there's no grantee that YouTube or Facebook won't update their Terms of Services to comply with the European Union's laws so they can go back into European households, as they make tons of money off of that market alone.
Meaning that the stupidity we watch on our free time as whole has been endangered by some dudes sitting at a desk, even if we don't live in Europe! (Gotta love globalization, right?)
