It's practically impossible to do on a device with bad contrast, plus the bright colors combined with the even brighter flashing colors makes this a literal eyesore to look at.
Maybe lowering the brightness and/or contrast by a little bit?

I agree. My eyes really hurt from looking at that. I don't know if it's just me but do I see circles in the middle of every 2x2 tiles?
Computer Science major? I don't know. What's GS2?日本語が少し出来ます。でも、「Weeb? ??じゃないですよ!
+1 On this. I feel like my eyesight degraded whilst trying to naviagte my way around. I get that the challenge is that its difficult to see where you can walk but as op said it's a literal eyesore.

I was lucky to have other players with me I just followed them
The concept isn't really the issue. I like the idea of a flashing path that guides the way—however it's executed so poorly. I literally got a headache and felt nauseous from playing, that shouldn't happen when playing a video game.
Edit:
Also, apparently players are in these levels with you but due to the serverload, they're disappearing for some people? That's weird.

This honestly was the most painful one physically
