    Starter Pistol Copyright?

If you listen closely, Menace2Society and Region BAR skins use the same sound (both reload and fire sfxs). It's the sound effect from Ray Gun (MK. 1), a gun from Treyarch's Call of Duty Black Ops series found in the zombie mode. So are we just allowed to take other stuff from games or what? Just take the stuff that most won't notice?

They're default effects from online creative commons sound depositories...

You're wrong. The SFX was taken from the Ray Gun and sped up a little bit. Maybe the "default" effects were taken by someone else and then the creator unconsciously.

Dude just listen to the reload sound and take your own conclusions.

That's literally game design, developers use sounds from places like Sound Jungle and put them in their games. Even if you were correct, I doubt a sound byte would be such a big deal since it's so menial. Plus, it's also transformative.

Calm down man they'll be fine.

    Copyright?

So I listened to the audio and whatnot and yeah, it's not copyright.

Not only is the sound not being used for profit, but it's also transformative (as you mentioned, it being pitched up or whatever) meaning it falls under, albeit barely, fair use. There's no copyright infringement being done here.

Doesn't matter who it's taken from, that doesn't automatically validate it as infringement. Intentions and use are much.. FAR more important than outright stealing intellectual property itself. Also my point about sound jungles and audio depositories, ever heard of a creative commons?

There are references to other games in Era, if I recall correctly, so I don't think that this is a big issue.
