Yes, they are a big part of it, but I wouldn't necessarily blame them solely on whatever the current problem on Era is.

Now, I have no experience whatsoever on being admin, -I've never been one- but I can tell that the continuous mistreat from prepubescent kids is probably draining them. I am not saying you, I am saying the kids who send irrelevant messages everyday and demand things to admins as if they were the law.

I think that they can kind of be related to how Cops work (rule wise). For example, if a cop feels endangered he has been trained with the idea that it is okay to open fire towards the criminal. Now this may not be the best for all of the cases as an innocent person can be shot, and this makes a cop look bad. But what some people don't know is that this is what cops are told to do, this is how they are trained.

Same for admins, they have to gag you or warn you if you tell them something inappropriate because they are told to do so. Once again, it may not be the best as it may have been an innocent joke but that's how they were trained.

Maybe a simple change in rules could solve some problems, but they are there to begin with -and maybe for a reason-, so I don't know.

Another thing is that it may be because sometimes they hire very young staff -though I think that is because Era has a young demographic- kids who don't yet understand the responsibility of being an admin as someone more adult/mature would. Don't get me wrong though, there has been some amazing admins who are 14+ who have contributed a lot to the game. But not all are that mature, and they are young humans so they maybe won't be the best for the job. Maybe it is also about hiring? I mean, remember that they hired A LOT of people in one week after all those amazing admins resigned?

I think maybe the community in Era is the main problem if I am being honest, because well, admins come from within the community right?

One point I will have to agree with though is the VIP item thing, the quality and quantity has been going down drastically over the years. I also really miss the good quests we would get for big holidays, I just don't think that right now they have enough or the right staff to make more of those.
I agree completely with you except on the age thing. Almost every single thing is blamed on the WHOLE staff team. There's very few bad apples but the whole team is generalized anyway. They tend to forget that we are also players ourselves, and not only that, but the players aren't exactly making things easy. Players do harass staff on continuum, speaking from pure experience, for literally doing their job. I've been given dangerous threats, been told people were out to get me. Completely random people will literally, out of nowhere, curse you out over pm. You are demanded to host, to jail people, to give out things, and if you don't do as the players say they will harass you. I'm not thin skinned, and it doesn't bother me most of the time unless it comes off as dangerous, but it becomes so ridiculously old. I socialized freely with players almost daily as many people complain that staff these days don't do anymore. I would sit at start, answer questions, not do anything but talk to players. And I'd be told to go away for causing crowds, to shut up, and to stop "showing off" despite not doing anything but socialize. I'd be demanded to do my job by players when the only time I socialized with the players was when I had no job to do. So you seriously have to see from our POV. Those who know me know I am pretty chill and do my best to socialize, joke around with and overall avoid acting superior because after all, without the players there are no staff. But I've been horribly harassed for rightfully warning others, gagging others, or the contrary, not punishing someone despite players yelling at me to do so.

I will say though Nani, despite it generally being true that 90% of 13-14 year olds are immature as hell (I can vouch for that, I'm with them almost all week), there are a hell of a lot of 15-19 year olds that play this game and act like they're 9. I joined the PR team when I was 13, and the News team when I was 12, am currently 14, and not even kidding, I got harassed purely because of my age. This one person who I'll leave anonymous started riots against me, cursed me out, threatened to hunt me down, and more just because my age annoyed him.

In regards to the post itself, staff have become relatively more strict as PRAs and SPRs have come and gone. Rules have been added and revised, and we've learned from mistakes. We do as we're told (unless there's a bad apple; then they get plucked out) and at this point, that means that there's no exceptions. Most staff have humor, since we get so many prank pms though we tend to just ignore them because we are doing 3 things at once and there are other people who need help. I never minded them that much, but you gotta keep some things in mind. Unfortunately, the past is the past, much as we long for it, and as people change and rules change we have to learn to go with it. But if there's a player who in your example is cursing a staff out, a verbal warning over pm really isn't cutting it lmao. There are players with more than 50 warnings that still don't learn a lesson. If you're harassing and cursing out a staff, damn well know you will get gagged and/or warned. Fine line between being offensive (and no, we aren't a bunch of pansies) and joking.

VIP is a long running argument it seems, but I suppose it is what it is. Considering you're getting other benefits with VIP, they don't want to give out anything worth too much. Since one month (one item's worth) of VIP is 7.5k, they need to give out an item worth about that. I know for sure that they're trying, but we'll see what happens with that. I know how frustrated everyone is with the lack of uniqueness in the VIP.
