He's never publicly announced a release date before I believe. Also I'm pretty sure it says summer not the first day of summer, he still has a couple months before even being considered late. The levels are probably already finished since it's almost done and just needs polishing, it's probably in the graphics teams hands (who are probably the slowest gfx team ever) or the gani team (also very unreliable in my experience).

The 'specific date' is summer 2014, last time I checked it's still summer 2014 and will continue to be for quite a while...
