They started long ago, so the map should've been updated more than twice.

Why do they need a new map.
Yeah, it's been revised several times.
This is the first major change since about 2006, though.
Individual buildings have been moved, such as the spar complex moving closer to unstick.
And as gangs come and go, new bases crop up or get deleted.
But overall, it's pretty much had the same layout since then.
It's not so much of a necessity as it is a leisure.
They just feel that they're due for a change, since they've been looking at the same map for eight years.
They have staff that are willing and able to put in the work to make a new map, so they did.
There's not necessarily an improvement, other than the superior minimap, which has already been unveiled.
They don't necessarily need it, but they feel like changing it. Hey, at least they're doing something worth-while and really productive for the server.
looks pretty cool
i like how there are a lot of changes in the works, iEra is definitely improving.
