Welcome to the Forums!
You are only able to upgrade guns when they are rusty or in good condition.
When they are upgraded it will say they are in perfect condition, this means that it will do +1 dmg.

so if my ak get rusty and i repaired(upgrade it) it will have 8 damage in perfect condition right

Do you need certain Minerals
Yes
The only minerals you need are Silver, Copper, Lead & Iron.
These are the 4 main minerals you'll need in order to upgrade/repair your gun(s).
