Old era really wasn't as good as you think you remembered it. It just felt more enjoyable because the game was new and it felt more fun to base and pk because you hadn't done it before. Even though the guns weren't that expensive it didn't really make much of a difference since the dual uzis were basically the best gun in the game and was all most people even used.

If we were to make a new server that was exactly the same as era a few months after it was released you would all get bored of it after a week because there is nothing keeping you there. Basing, sparring and pking wouldn't be as fun as you've done it all for hundreds of hours now and there are no rewards or items to work towards. The most expensive gun was 45K so there is nothing really to dig or work towards getting.

I've played era since it was released, whilst I do have some good memories of the old era and there are things i'd have wished might not have been added I still prefer the era we have now
