AA is when you make something look smooth. "A particular form of procedure for accomplishing or approaching something" Making something look smooth fits the description of accomplishing something.

No, there isnt a button called "Magically add aa!!1!!1!1!1"
You have to do it, manually
It usually always makes an item look better and less jaggy
