Something creepy happened

Sorry for the vague title.

Something real creepy just happened last night. It was a friend of mine's (Rory) birthday, and we went out camping at a forest.
There was like a little 'school camp' there as well, but they had things like cabins and beds. We had to sleep in a tent, a few kilometres away, though.

That night, there was a huge storm there. There were five of us. Bryant, Jack, Rory, Cade and I.
Rory promised to call his parents that night, and we couldn't get any reception where we were staying. So three of us; Cade, Rory and I had to go to that school camp site to see if they had a phone we could use. Cade said he needed to urinate, so we waited for him somewhere along the track. He eventually came back and we navigated our way there, and we found a passing forest ranger, and we told him the situation.

"So the three of us came to find someone" I say. The ranger was really confused, "Three?" he said.
I turned around, and no one was behind me except Rory. I swear, we both knew there was a third person walking with us. So we settled on, 'he got lost'.
The ranger took us to our campsite. i was expecting to see Cade there as well, but we didn't. Only Jack and Rory were there.

The ranger said he would manage a search tomorrow. We wished we could find him that night, but it was a huge storm. The forecast didn't even say, either.
Tossing and turning for hours, I finally managed to get some sort of sleep. The next morning, the ranger was already at our site when I woke up.
Behind him was Cade. We were overjoyed that he was found, but something he said struck me.

"Why did you leave me?" I told him we obviously didn't leave him, and that he got lost. He told us that after he finished his business, he came to where we said we would wait but no one was there. He apparently waited there for an hour before wandering off trying to find us.

If what he says is right, then it was someone else that followed us through the way, and disappeared when we met the forest ranger.
The storm was so heavy that we didn't even notice it wasn't him. We were all wearing raincoats and it was so dark.

Possibly the storm and other things made you think someone was with you.
Or it could have been another person just walking by

Are you kidding? There's a storm outside right now. We were at 'Georgina River'. It's flooding but it wasn't supposed to rain. That's why we were so bloody surprised :0

And I know for a fact that someone was there. We left because we knew 'Cade' had finished urinating and was coming towards us.
