Moved to leveling, I feel you'll get someone who also levels to find your thread here.
My tips would be to be imaginative. Think of places you like and try to create them in your image.

Here's my fav guide for starting levels.
Tips? Hmm make sure if you a transitioning from different earth tiles use the connecting pieces of the two you are transitioning.
I'm not overly experienced with leveling, but I do know how to do some basic things of you ever run into a bump.
