I don't know, if you can't use throwing vday hearts in crypt then probably not for the same reason vday hearts were disabled (if they are)

So what is the best basing gun in the new shop? I'd assume the Ion beam cannon thing or whatever, but I could be wrong...

Add a spin attack on the saber in replacement of the sheathe. The sheathe is retarded. Why would you want to spend 25 Extra EC to hide your saber.

it's too late to change an item that has been on sale for years. Like I said the 360 attack isn't a major deal, but it is enough to make it worth 15 more ec. If you are happy with your dual saber then you don't really need the katana unless you like its look more
