Make money at Multiplex?

Hello!
Since Multiplex was released, we’ve received a lot of positive feedback on Multiplex Base Battle – a lot of people enjoy playing it, but one chief complaint was always “you get nothing for it”.

Well, we’ve changed that – now, if your team wins, you will earn gralats.

However, there is risk involved; if your team loses, you will lose gralats.

Here’s the breakdown:
At the start of every match, everybody pays a fee of 50g to compete.
45g of that goes towards the jackpot, which will be divided evenly among the winning team.

Now examine what was said there – “divided evenly among the winning team”.

That means that if you’re in a 3v3 match, the winning team will win 90g each upon winning (40g profit each)
(6 * 45 = 270; divided by 3 = 90)

If you’re in a 3v6 match, and the team of 3 wins, they will receive 135g each (85g profit each).
(9 * 45 = 405; divided by 3 = 135)

In the same 3v6 scenario, if the team of 6 wins, they will receive 68g each (18g profit each)
(9 * 45 = 405; divided by 6 = 68)

As you can see, there is a relationship between risk and reward.
If your team runs the risk of going against a larger team, they are compensated for that added risk.

So choose your teams wisely – I recommend hiring quality over quantity; as it literally pays to be on a winning team =D.

There is still a lobby for those who want to play for free, but you will not gain gralats playing in this environment.

Oh - and players with less than 10 hours will not be able to compete in the rewarded matches.
This is because we do not want "tutorial money" going into jackpots.

Because it would be honestly bad for the game, just imagine winning all the time then losing all the time, you won't lose money but you will still win it.

Alright, I'll go MPX after school.

There is no such reality as "something for nothing" -- it's not an entirely new concept =D.

To make money digging shells, you must first purchase a shovel and engage in hours of labor.

To make money mining, you must first purchase a drill, and engage in hours of drilling for rocks, which you then put into a machine in the hopes of yielding a profitable harvest.

To make money in Base Battle, you must first attract a winning team by demonstrating yourself as somebody who can benefit them in the same way. As in the other jobs, the practice required to reach this level takes hours of preparation, but the rewards are there for those who attain it.

It's possible to play basebattle and never lose a penny -- you would just have to be skilled enough. There are plenty of teams out there that could do this =D

You've got to put the wood in the fireplace before you can expect it to produce heat. You cannot expect output without input.

If there were no element of "losing", it would also open the doors for people to boost money.

Seems like a awesome idea, maybe it could be improved by making the players put the amount of money they want to bet. This is because in my personal opinion, I find that there are few graalats obtained by each win, even if there's a 3v6 situation. Putting a minimum and a maximum range of money between 50 and 500 graalats would be nice.

Also, this system would be cool if it gets implemented in TTS, it'll convince the players to visit more frequently those game modes which are often empty.

Maybe a ability where we can like bet? 1-500$

Well, i can't agree any less, its true, so yea i would love to see this in the game. The only thing that is different about this than any other job, in digging, when u purchase a shovel u are 100% certain of getting an income, in this occasion there's a 50% chance of income, depending on the team strength, But yea as u said u cant expect an output without input.

Meph, what about if you get a certain amount of wins in Base Battle you get a hat that says 'MPX' on it.

How about the idea of gangs pooling their money with an amount that each gang with all their members combined has pooled? They can bet the money, putting each of their fellow gang members' money at risk. As their money will be combine the gangs will have to combine their members by the means of teamwork and coordination. (Discord?) there should also be a lag limit, especially when large amounts of money being bet.

Also, the amount of money put it by each gang should be proportionate, or almost proportionate with their members.

Meph, I do like your idea, this is just what I'm thinking it could possibly be turned into.

I'm not at home right now, so I don't have time to put this whole idea together and it's tedious typing on the phone. I know there are flaws to this, so please don't kill me if you recognize anything wrong, I can't because I can't really think right now, I'm pretty hungry. Thanks :)

Absolutely true - only the gangs that are *truly* confident in their abilities will frequent here.

Alot of gangs talk tough, but if they don't show up to a paid match where they could win money for "being good", then it serves as evidence that their boasting is just talk.

I believe the phrase is, "put your money where your mouth is".

It's one of the things I like about this -- the serious gangs will fight the serious gangs, and the others won't bother; because they know they aren't good enough to compete in this environment, and it would only be a loss to them.

It's a smart move, but also a revealing one.

People can't really boost here -- I mean, they could join with alt accounts, but for each additional account, they would have to pay an additional 50g.
Then they would have to try to play on two accounts simultaneously.

Also, they cannot join in on a rewarded match until they reach 10 hours. =D
If they want to sit there and idle on an alt for 10 hours to spend the 'free money' (what is it, like 200 bucks?) given on tutorials, more power to them.

Tonight I've been having a blast playing it with Magus.
I started with 115g, now I'm at over 1200g.

So in addition to having fun over the course of about 3.5 hours, I've also made some money =D

Its always worth a shot, i agree on most parts and disagree on some, but it could be great.

Doesn't it just mean the 'good' spar gangs will continue to dominate effectively only allowing those gangs to be the ones capable of consistent wins, thus allowing those particular people to make the most money? If the teams were random then sure but if you can pick it seems like the best are all on one team most of the time against the average. (The same way Venus Fort always seems to win the base fort events as they choose the best players for it, with random/ less known gangs rarely ever even making top 3)

Maybe there could even be some kind of system where there are two randomly chosen team leaders who take turns picking people for their respective teams out of all the people currently queued

Yes, that's the point =D
To encourage gangs to recruit on the premise of fighting ability by rewarding those who perform well.

It serves as a stimulus to get gangs to recruit quality members, and toss aside the watered-down "rec pls I have BAR" mentality.
This isn't a place for gangs that don't have fighting standards.

Also, while it can be prosperous for those who perform well, it shouldn't be interpreted as a "job".

It can be better likened to the intermittent cash rewards given for holding a base.
In both scenarios(Basing, or BBattle), a gang can stack the odds of winning in their favor by recruiting quality members.
The difference is, with BBattle, there is the possibility of loss.

But the compensation for the added risk is the potential for a larger return than what is yielded by risk-free basing.
I don't think I would have been able to gain 1,085g in 3.5 hours of holding a base, as I did in BBattle.

If the teams were randomly selected, then the fate of the winnings would be outside of the hands of the better-- in fact, it would be a gamble predicated on luck.

As it is, the odds are in the hands of the person paying the fee.
Whether you win or lose, you can point it either to your performance in the Bbattle matches, or to your selection of a gang.

If the performance flaws are consistently on a specific team member or member(s), you can look to the leader to remove them for poor performance.
And if the leader doesn't remove them, you can seek a gang with higher standards, or create your own.

Either way, it's in your hands.

The goal in a competitive environment should always be to perform well, and consistently work towards improvement.

We were originally going to have three different "stakes" -- FREE, 10g, and 50g.
That way, the "good" gangs would naturally gravitate towards higher stakes matches, and weaker gangs would feel more comfortable in the lower stakes matches, with less on the line.

That idea is still a possibility -- let me know what you guys think =D

Yes - the fee is 50g; 5g gets absorbed by the server, similar to a tax.
Since Multiplex is entirely free, this is where the server is reimbursed. =D
