Apparently those mysterious hats in the shop drop stats to 0 every time, win or lose?? When you succeed the RNG, you get Making Waves stat though so seems important in a way.

That actually depends. Some missions will be unavailable if you have stats too high, so some players buy stat lowering items such as the talkative rat so they can do the easier storylets or unique stories only available if you have low stats. Don't worry, stats are fairly easy to build back up!

The mushroom writing story is actually pretty good, as I lost all my Menace Qualities just by celebrating soon after publishing my ode of mushrooms.

The making waves is good because it is making you close to getting a quality called A Person of Some importance. When one of your stats reach a high level, you are considered famous in London and you get unique missions that benefit you a lot.

My stats are starting to get unbalanced since I started the Heart's Desire story. I have very little Shadowy and Dangerous. I won't worry though xD I'll just focus on finding the Marvellous and following this monkey. Got lost in the Nightmare a few times but that was something neat to explore, too.

Unbalanced Stats are fine. Nightmares won't harm you unless it reaches 8, but they are easy to get rid of.

Current events in Fallen London for me: I went to the Zee Island or something to go fishing, eventually landing a Strange Catch and being offered to dine with the Drownies(Almost Drowned People Who Think they are Dead, Yet they are really alive.) It was when dining when I saw my future, a chilly one, for I have met the Masters(The Leaders of London) in my future, offering me a place with them. My decision was uncertain and most were quite unhappy with that. Back to Reality, I went back to my lodgings and laid down on my bed, gazing at my Scowling Idol(An object which a dying man gave to me), wondering about what it all means to me. I wish I can find out, but I don't know if it is worth it.
