A few suggestions:

- Your colours are very dull and don't pop, they look washed out.
- It almost looks 'pillow shaded'.
- Don't be afraid to use asymmetrical shading.
- Hue shift/contrast.
- I could hardly tell what the text said from a distance.

New Year's is supposed to be glitz, glamour, sparkles and fireworks so it wouldn't hurt making everything have a bit more life. Cool improvement though, keep it up!
