the elf is good but the top hat shading is not so good i cant realy see the light there

For the red top-hat in my opinion, going for a lighter colour would make it too contrasted.
You can already see the blue shading for the white band so I think that gives it enough depth.
Appreciate your opinion, I'll try a few things.
