I agree with making the blade bigger, but maybe place the jewel on the hilt(handle) or pommel(bottom of the handle), if possible? The tip also looked better pointy ;o

Nah, my brothers were. It just sort of rubbed off on me a bit and I tend to do research for concepts and what not.
Don't hesitate to make everything thicker on top of the blade. More space to work with can do wonders for the look of a weapon(as far as detail is concerned).
